Electroniclaim Quick Start

Twelve Steps to Productivity

1. Install Electroniclaim

Insert the Electroniclaim CD and follow the installation on-screen guidelines.  Once installed, run Electroniclaim.  From the Windows Start menu, start Electroniclaim by selecting the Electroniclaim menu option.

2. Enter the Electroniclaim CD Key

The Electroniclaim CD Key is located on the cover of the CD case.  It is a 16-character code that can be entered in upper or lower case.

3. Enter the Electroniclaim Password

For the first time use, Electroniclaim runs on a default password.  The password should be typed in lower case and is as follows:

Name:        eclaim

Password:        12345

4. Enter Provider Information

Select the Provider/Doctor option from the Data menu.  This form allows the user to enter all of the provider information, including referring doctors, that is kept in this file.

5. Enter CPT codes

Select the procedure Codes option from the Data menu.  This form allows the user to enter CPT (Procedure) Codes.  These codes will then be cross-referenced by Electroniclaim to make data entry even easier.  Electroniclaim would like to include these codes, but the AMA claims a copyright.  A complete CPT code file may be purchased at an additional charge.

6. Enter Payer Information

Select the Payer options from the Data menu.  This form allows the user to enter payer/insurance company information that will be used when creating coverages.

7. Enter Insured Information

Select the Insure/Subscriber option from the Data menu.  This form allows the user to enter a persons insured information.  This information is then used when filling out the insured portion of a claim.

8. Enter Patient Information

Select the Patient Demographic option from the Data - Patient menu.  This form allows the user to enter patient information.  This information will be used each time a claim is filled out for this patient.

9. Enter Coverage/Insured Information

Select the Coverage option from the Data menu.  This form allows the user to create coverage for the newly entered patient.  This coverage information links the patient, insured, and payer/insurance company information together.

10. Check Your Modem

The modem that is connected to the computer needs to be checked to be sure that it is functioning properly and a phone line is available.

11. Enter a Claim

From the Main menu, select the claims option and follow the Electroniclaim HCFA-1500 Claims section to create a new claim for new patient information.  Steps for creating a new claim can be found on page 55 of the manual or can be accessed by pressing F1 while the Enter Claims option on the Claims menu in selected and the HCFA form is open (Or refer to the link to the 43 Steps to Success at the bottom of this page).  Press the 'NEW' button on the toolbar.  For more information on the toolbar, see page 39 in the Electroniclaim user manual.

12. Post, Build, and Send Files

Select the Post Claim option from the Claims menu.  This option posts all of the current claims that have not been posted.  The build option only builds posted claims.

Select the Build options from the Claims - Transmit Files menu.  The option builds the current posted claim files.

Select the Transmit Files option from the Claims - Transmit Files menu.  This option allows the user to follow some setup information and send claims.

That's it!  Electroniclaim should now be configured to user specifications and the user should be able to send claim files.  If any problems are encountered, check the Electroniclaim user manual for detailed descriptions of each step.
