ElectroniClaim® has developed a complete PC based medical claims
clearinghouse software package, ClearingMagic. This software allows
the receipt of electronic medical claims in industry standard formats
required by HIPAA, ANSI X12 837. In addition to the requirements
of HIPAA the software can apply payer specific validation criteria
which may apply to various lines of business.
Claims are submitted via a secure connection on the Internet. This
means that the data is encrypted during transmission from the sender
to the receiver and privacy and security are maintained. Claims
are imported and the submitters receive both industry standard acknowledgements
and easily understood reports detailing claim errors. After being
imported by the clearinghouse, claims are sorted by payer and outbound
claim files are created. The outbound claim files contain only those
claims that have passed validation. Transmission of the outbound
claim files directly to receiving payers can be automated.
The current system supports HIPAA compliant Professional, Institutional
and Dental claim formats. In addition, electronic remittances going
from payers to providers are also supported. In the event that submitters
are not able to create claims in industry standard formats, ElectroniClaim
has a suite of tools for translating legacy formats to HIPAA compliant
formats. Conversion from various versions of the National Standard
Format for professional claims to the HIPAA compliant ANSI format
can be done with HIPAAMagic. Similarly
the conversion from UB92 institutional claims, also known as National
Standard Format version 6.0, to HIPAA compliant ANSI claims can
be accomplished with the ANSIMagic
product. There is even support for dental claims translation
with DentalMagic.ElectroniClaim® even has complete support for
Print Image Mapping applications for
professional and institutional claims.
ClearingMagic can be used in a number of different ways. Third
Party Administrators can use it to receive claims on behalf of multiple
payers. Billing services can use the software to act as a hub from
their billing systems to large industry clearinghouses while sending
to large volume payers claims directly. Independent Practice Associations
can use the software to pass all of their claims through a central
location for re-pricing and managed care contract compliance. Practice
managemnt software vendors may run their own clearinghouses as a
value added service for their existing clients.
